Come with me

Missionary work has been a big topic lately and has been constantly on my mind.  In my Book of Mormon class, my teacher stated what a mission call really means in a really insightful way. He made the point that even though the words say that you are called to serve in Peru, or Japan, or Mexico, thats not the whole meaning. The Lord is really saying, "Come with me to Peru. I need you there to help me." That hit me pretty hard, because its a direct line, and wherever you go, it is with the Lord. Best part of my day. Otherwise, it was filled with work, studying and a cleaning check. I'm grateful for it though, each day I learn something new. I want to find my purpose here, and every day I get a little bit closer.

The Light of Christ.

Today in Institute we had a very good lesson, it was about the light of Christ. Our teacher showed us a video on the Mormon Channel. Bednar talked about how we have a light of Christ, and how important it is to act upon the light of Christ. We can have the light of Christ by doing simple acts of kindness like smiling at someone that looks sad, or helping a stranger in need.
Never forget that even when we are surrounded by darkness, we have the power to overcome it. I really like the scripture D&C 50:24 "That which is of god is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, revceiveth more light; and that light growth brighter and brighter until perfect day."

Here is the Link to the video if you want to watch it!!

Hey hey hey!!

Well, hello blog:)

Oh man, this is my first post!! Don't except much, I still dont know how to post pictures or anything. I'm excited to be apart of this blog. I have been thinking a lot about Time lately. As a kid, I thought it dragged on, and during adolesence it got even worse. But now, I have you wonderfully ladies, and it seems like everything is moving so fast! I have so much to do ALL the time, but ALL I ever want to do is hang with the people I love the most! Just gotta survive mid-terms, and then I will hopefully have more time to do that!

Preparing for the Grand Reunion

Today I woke up thinking about Rachel and Papa.  I miss them so much, but I will see them again before I know it.  It is times like these that I am deeply grateful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I KNOW that I will see them and be reunited with them again.  The Rachel Covey Foundation is going to use riding horses to help several girls who have depression.  So much good has come out of these trying experiences.  I love you Rachel and Papa!

Looking forward to the special day this week....

What a happy Valentines Day it is this year,
certainly you, my friend, must think so too!
Still at home on this dreary day all alone,
has always been the most desirous thing to do.

Because it so that lovely time of the year again,
when Hallmark monopolizes its cutesy cards and bears.
When chocolate goes from store shelves to lovers' hands,
and romantic music drifts sickly through the air.

Plastic heart shaped, over-sized metallic balloons,
glitter and gleam in whatever door one steps through.
Oh, but the pointless money spending does not stop there,
for every grade school child gives out Valentines too.

Jewelry is exchanged in colored boxes with bows,
and the bills sore higher as the savings fall ever lower.
Romantic dinners with one plate of pasta for two,
as couples cling together, dancing in the moonlight's glow.

Teen queens are basking in their temporary glory,
arms and lockers overflowing with countless love tokens.
And then there are the girls that wish they could disappear,
because the only thing they hold is a heart shattered and broken.

Some might say these girls are simple and most definitely jealous,
because it was "just wrong" to be so dejected and depressed that way.
So don't let me be the one to pour down the rain on your parade,
I'll just go on and wish you a "Happy Single Awareness Day."

Memories

I have had such great memories with these wonderful ladies. They are my best friends, and they ALWAYS will! Through thick and thin they have always been there for me. Even though we are getting older, and our lives seem to be getting busier and busier they will remain close to my heart.
I remember meeting Tatum for the first time. I thought she was the tightest girl ever! She is always so nice to people, and never has a bad thing to say about anyone. I loved going to Medical Assisting with her, it was always the highlight of my day. We defiantly became closer when we learned that we would have to give each other butt shots.

I remember in 9th grade Erika was in my history class, I was so excited. It was her first year at public school. I knew that it was going to be a big change for her. After the first week in public school she decided that it wasn't for her, so I was left alone in history. One of my favorite memories with her is when we were at the American Fork Amphitheater, and we really had to go pee, and there were no bathrooms, so we peed on the grass together. She is going to be an amazing missionary, Argentina is lucky to have her.
Gentry has been with me through thick and thin. She is my best friend, and my other half. I have so many great memories with her. Even though we fight, at the end of the day we still love each other. I don't know what I would do without her. I think my favorite thing about having a twin is always knowing that they have your best interest in mind, they always have your back, and when you feel you can't do it anymore they are always there to help pick you up.

I love you guys, and I hope that we can always be close friends. I can't to see what the future holds for everyone. “A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.”-William Shakespeare

Counting down the days

Can't wait to hear from him tomorrow!! 8months and 5 weeks from today and this guy will be home!! October 15, 2013 can't come soon enough!! Getting emails from him easily makes Monday the best day of the week!

9th Grade
Post High School Graduation
From 9th grade until after my high school graduation, I loved this boy.  He was my first kiss and my first love.  Unfortunately, it has been too difficult to maintain a relationship at this point in our lives so I must move on.  Perhaps in the future we will be together again.  Until then, goodbye Christian!
Christian and Erika
I get to talk to this boy tomorrow!  I can't wait to hear how his week has been and how he's doing.  I'll only be able to chat back and forth with him for one more month, so I'm going to make the most of that time!  After the month is up, it will take several weeks to send letters back and forth.  However, I know I'll be happy to be serving in Argentina!
The Sacred Grove
Today I taught my five little primary girls about the first vision that took place in the Sacred Grove.  I was able to show them this picture that I took last summer when I got to see the Sacred Grove.  The girls are only six years old so they have a very small attention span!  We ended up dancing and singing after a brief lesson.
